Interdisciplinary research for better medicine
Welcome to the website of the Insula Institute for Integrative Therapy Research.
We are a non-profit organization that promotes science, research and education in the field of integrative medicine.
Me | di | cine
Totality of human knowledge and skills about the origin, cure and prevention of diseases.
The science or practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of said diseases and preservation of health, as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Integrative Medicine
A practice that focuses on the whole person, emphasizes the importance of the therapist-patient relationship, relies on evidence, and leverages all relevant therapeutic options, health professions and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing.
At the Insula Institute, we are approaching this ideal by researching traditional medical systems, such as ancient Chinese medicine, together with their therapeutic methods and anthropological concepts. Since this work naturally crosses the boundaries of scientific disciplines, it also includes the advancement of science itself.
